Blending Kit Kemp's love of craft and simple folk art in a fun and lyrical way, Sailor's Farewell tells the story of a sailor's loved-one waving goodbye on a rock with her scarf flying in the wind. As she waves goodbye, the motifs around the china show the sailor's adventures on the high seas both above and below the waterline. The delicate pale blue linen finish of the original fabric inspiration is discernible on the tableware and finished with a stronger blue and gold line around the rim. The Sailor's Farewell Teapot showcases the sailor's adventure as the ship passes by a whale and curious octopus down below.
